The African Spurred tortoise (Geochelone sulcata,

raising them
Abstract
Geochelone sulcata,
Miller 1779, lives in the driest areas
of Africa. Succulent plants and dry weeds are the main food source and typical of the barren vegetation
in their natural habitat. When keeping them in captivity, extreme climatically conditions should be considered,
and additionally their enormous size and power. A large size greenhouse facility, including free access to an
outdoor enclosure, is the perfect way to keep spurred tortoises. Under the conditions described and
considering the special aspects this species requires,
Geochelone sulcata is not a problematic
tortoise and breeding success follows relatively easy.
