How to replant enclosures for tortoises

Abstract

It is difficult to maintain Mediterranean plants in the tortoise enclosures in Germany. In this article I give examples of which shrubs are appropriate for the German climate, being robust enough to survive both climate and tortoises. These shrubs give hiding places as well as providing behavioural enrichment when the animals harvest some berries by climbing to access these. Information about soil requirements, how to contain excessive growth, as well as other relevant tips are given.
