Eine kostengünstige Methode zur Inkubation von Landschildkrötengelegen

An inexpensive method for the incubation of tortoise eggs

Abstract

After a short discussion about various useful incubation methods and their limitations, the construction of a very cost effective incubator is described. The new incubator consists of a larger, well insulated Styrofoam box which is heated by a tightly sealed water canister which is equipped with an aquarium heater. Detailed drawings and a description for the construction of such an incubator including the incubation substrate are provided. In addition, examples for the maximal achievable temperature gradients within the incubator are outlined. Finally the cost efficiency as well as the pros and cons of the new incubation method are shortly discussed.
