A Gringo in the Gran Chaco of Paraguay – unexpected finding of Trachemys scripta elegans

Abstract

A Trachemys scripta elegans was found in Filadelfia, Gran Chaco, Paraguay at a distance of 460 km to the nearest pet trade. The possibilities and chances of surviving and propagation at the arid Gran Chaco (West-Paraguay) are evaluated, together with the possibilities in the more appropriate, more densely populated East-Paraguay.
