Griechische Landschildkröten auf Korfu

Hermann's tortoise on the island of Corfu

Abstract

The habitats and colour morphs of Testudo h. boettgeri which are currently found on the island of Corfu are described, photographically documented and discussed. Some comments are made about the ixodid tick (Hyalomma aegyptium), which infests tortoises. In addition, the localities in which the two native freshwater turtles, Emys orbicularis hellenica and Mauremys rivulata were observed, are also described.
