The radiated tortoise (Geochelone radiata) at Madagascar – Beginning a survey of the population

Abstract

In May 2006, I started a survey on the status of the population of the radiated tortoise in Madagascar. The main objective is to evaluate the influence of humans, and especially pasture farming, on the structure and density of the populations. This data will serve as the beginning of a long-term observation study and provide the knowledge about the conservation measures that are necessary.
