A hatch of Emys orbicularis
after overwintering in the nest

Abstract

In a cool and rainy region of Germany, the Rhineland, the author observed a just hatched Emys orbicularis in his yard in the late spring after an extraordinary long and wet winter. The turtle was obviously overwintering in the nest in that outdoor enclosure.
