Mardereinbruch in ein „gesichertes“ Gehege

Break-in of a marten into a „safe“ enclosure

Abstract

This article deals with an unexpected break-in of a marten (Martes foina) into a tortoise enclosure that was protected against predators, from the ground as from above. The latter route was secured by a fine net. The marten destroyed one mesh and came into the enclosure through it. Five young tortoises had been displaced, of which we 2 found dead and 3 injured. Information of the successful and unsuccessful medical treatments is given, as well as ideas on how really to be protected against martens.
