Testudo kleinmanni – Care and breeding of the Egyptian tortoise

Abstract

I describe my experiences regarding the maintenance of a group Testudo kleinmanni in the northern part of Germany. Starting in 1999 with 2, and in 2000 with 3 additional hatchlings for raising under my care, I have not changed the composition of my group. For the last 4 years I obtain hatchlings from this group at every year. I provide detailed data regarding the keeping conditions, like housing, feeding, aestivating, breeding, and raising. Furthermore I give advice on how to avoid health problems.
