Conjoined twins in an egg from a Three-striped Mud Turtle (Kinosternon baurii, Garman, 1891)

Abstract

The article describes a case of conjoined twins in the Three-striped Mud Turtle (Kinosternon baurii). The animals were conjoined at the lumbar spine and shared the posterior part of the body. They were hatched, with the author's help, from a normal-sized egg after artificial incubation, but died shortly after. This is the first known documented case of conjoined twins in the genus Kinosternon.
